5 Reasons Why You Need to Get an Electric Bike Now

Reason One: Gas Prices

It is no secret that gas prices have been creeping up over the last five years. No matter what the President, Congress, the Senate or any other office in Washington seems to do they don’t have control over the people that own the oil companies.  As a matter fact, over the last five years there has been constant excuses from the fossil fuel companies around the world as to why oil prices have been going up. They have cited everything from hurricanes and bad weather to having an overabundance of oil and no place to store it as excuses. It used to be we have a shortage, now they are saying that prices have gone up because we have an overage!  The point of the whole thing is, we will never know for sure exactly why they keep raising prices other than the obvious reason: to increase profits for rich people.  I mean, at the end of the day what other conclusion can you come to? So, moving from fossil fuel based products and transportation is the obvious answer to keeping them in line. Until people around the world to grasp this concept and use it there probably won’t be much of a change in the way oil prices move up.

Reason Two:  Economical Transportation

There is no secret that you can actually save quite a bit of money by writing an electric bicycle, especially if you are able to ride it to work. In America most people drive considerable distances to get to work, however if you’re living in a city or town where your within relatively close driving distance, you can save quite a bit of money by using electric bicycle. One of the reasons that the electric bicycle is so attractive as far as riding a bike to work is concerned, is that you can ride and use electricity to help you get to where you work at arrive at work without being tired and sweaty.  This is because the electric motor assist in most electric bicycles will take much of the strain off of you and therefore you will not arrive at your place of business exhausted and reeking of perspiration.

Reason Three: Health Reasons

Another great reason for writing a bicycle, even when it is electric, is so that you can get a certain degree of exercise and fresh air. When you are pumping the pedals of a bicycle that you are getting an aerobic workout that will help your heart, lungs and leg muscles get much-needed exercise. This is especially important if you work in an office where you are seated all day.  You can get exercise on your way to work and on the way back from work merely by writing electric bicycle, and as I have stated in the last paragraph under Reason Two you can still get exercise without getting too tired and arriving at work with perspiration all over you.  So having fresh air and getting a little exercise is great for you and you can easily, this with electric bike.

Reason Four: Promoting Green Technology

I don’t particularly believe that human beings are causing global warming, however, that does not mean that I do not care about the environment. Personally, I hate the idea that we are polluting our atmosphere, water and everything else you can think of and writing an electric bicycle is promoting green technology and therefore creating new ways in which we can use natural resources to power our way to work and other places.  Actually, you can use power from the sun to charge solar panels which in turn can create enough electricity to power an electric bicycle. You can then ride electric bicycle to where ever you need to go off of the energy that the sun can create, and this is known as sustainable energy.  Sustainable energy is great because it is free, creates no pollution and is available to everyone that is willing to invest a little money.  Over the next 10 years, because of the popularity of electric bikes around the world, there will be great advances in electric batteries and other sources of energy that we can store and use without creating loads of pollution which will damaged our atmosphere in our general environments where we have to live.

Reason Five: Being Different

Many people would not consider this to be much of a reason, but I do. I want to be a part of something new and different without spending an arm and a leg. I want to be a part of movement which will keep our environment cleaner and people healthier.  I want to show people how to have fun while doing all of these things and teach them a way to do things the will make their lives further enriched. This is why I promote electric bikes and electric scooters and I hope you’ll join me in this movement.

The Razor Electric Mini Chopper Bike

A Chopper Electric Bike

A Chopper Electric Bike

When it comes to cool electric bikes for kids to ride around on, hardly anything compares to a novelty bike like the Razor Electric Mini-Chopper.  This bike comes complete with the cool facade of a Harley chopper.

It can run for approximately 10 miles on a single charge and get up to about 15 miles per hour.  Like a lot of the electric bikes on the market today, the Razor electric Mini Chopper has a chain driven motor.

Now aside from the usual stats I would give you on this e-bike, I just want to say that for anyone over the age of 12 it is going to seem small.  I know razor clearly shows a dude that is at least 16 on their ad but anyone that is over 200lbs is going to slow this thing up and make it want to drink volts.

So, as cool as the novelty of having one of these things to toy around on is, please make sure that you are not too old or big to ride on it. As for the lighter and younger of us, well, it has been reviewed on Amazon several times as a big hit with he younger kids.

I would like to mention that being an old fogey, I want to make sure that I take every precaution in both riding and driving this thing.  It is a real cool electric bike to be sure, but being a teacher I know that young people think they are imperious to dangerous situations. So, please take every precaution and MONITOR YOUR KIDS!

Wanted : More Brilliant Inventors and Dreamers!!!

Inventor I just thought I’d side step my usual reviews of electric bikes, electric scooters and ev’s in general to talk about the people that make the world just a little easier to live in. Of course, I am not talking about politicians but inventors. I am totally amazed by the age we live in. If you have any idea in your gob about a particular thing you wish someone would invent or design, it is either on the drawing board or you just missed it somehow and it is already in the market place somewhere.

Last year, on TV (another great misused invention…) there was a program called American Inventor where people would bring their inventions in for a contest. The winner would receive a contract from some big company and a million bucks to promote the invention. I was amazed at how many different ideas people came in with that were already invented, they just didn’t know it.

Anyway, I was just wondering why all of the geniuses in Washington, haven’t run their own contest. Why don’t we have a national contest to build a safe vehicle that can run on alternative energy that is very cheap? (You, now they are doing amazing things with nuclear fission these days!) Why don’t our politicians, who claim they are REALLY for the American people, run a 10 million dollar contest for the first person that can invent a car that runs on anything natural or cheap?

whine to your congressman about electric vehicles

The American people need to make these people accountable. The reason they ignore us so much is because we don’t have the character to call up their offices and demand from them the things they should be providing. Do me a favor, please don’t send me any messages telling me how it is the Democrat’s, Republican’s, President’s, (past and future) faults. These people only act because YOU PRESSURE THEM every day. So, pick up your phones and start calling and whining.

After all, it’s the American way!

Japan planning to Spend Mega-Bucks on Electric Cars

Japan’s senior official at the Japanese Trade Ministry declared that Japan is planning to spend $1.72 billion (in U.S. Dollar amount) over the next 5 years to develop cars and fuel that will reduce the dreaded car emmissions. Apparently, the Japanese government will subsidize development of batteries, hydrogen and other technologies in an aim to get rid of 6% to 7% of emissions. The japanese have had emission problems for a very long time with this problem due to the fact that their geography is not conducive to urban spread. Japan is an island nation with a large part of its islands too rocky to build on and this is cause for cities becoming very jammed and traffic being extremely heavy.

Toronto Testing Electric Vehicles

toronto electric bikeOver the course of this year, Mayor David Miller has been testing electric vehicles in his city, Toronto. The name of the project is called The Toronto Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle Project and it is trying to prove that hybrid electric vehicles that are equipped with larger batteries can be charged right from the home on the grid. The good mayor and his team of researchers also want to see if the vehicle can operate in an urban environment while running on a single charge for more than 50 killometers.

The University of Toronto faculty and students will gather the data relevant to the study and estimate whether or not the vehicles have a drop in emissions or if there is an improvement in fuel-mileage.

A side benefit to this idea is to see if the cars could work as back up generators, able to provide vital electricity to homes during a city’s blackout.

Mayor Miller states, ” By boosting the all-electric range of hybrid vehicles, this technology has the potential to help us address one of the largest climate and air quality impacts in the city of Toronto.”

The researchers are using eight Toyota Priuses, one Honda Civic Hybrid and one Ford Escape Hybrid and these vehicles will be driven over the course of this year.

If the project works out, there are plans in place to add anothyer 200 vehicles.

Americans Not Ready to Make Sacrifices

I guess most Americans are too well off to care if the massive oil companies are taking advantage of them. According to a survey by Consumer Reports, only half of Americans say they want to sacrifice the size of their vehicles or the performance of the vehicle in order to get better fuel economy.

Here are the astonishing figures:

People willing to get a smaller vehicle to get better gas mileage = 52%

People willing to give up performance to get better gas mileage = 49%

People willing to take fewer amenities (power windows, steering etc.) fo better fuel economy = 45%
Now, the use of hydrogen and diesel is more expensive to use on their hybrid cars, but the mileage is far better and only 31% of the people surveyed would pay more to get one of these types of vehicles.

And a whopping 60% said that they were concerned about the environment.  Actually, that figure surprises me coinsidering the number of people I saw throwing garbage all over the place this past memorial day weekend.

I guess there is even brighter news on the horizon, gas prices are expectred to rise again over the course of the summer.  If you match that along with the fact that our government wants to raise our taxes again, the future looks real bright.

I’m being sarcastic of course
