The Best Kids Electric Scooters Part III – Xtreme XP-700 Electric Scooters

If you have been reading this blog over the last few days, you will notice that I have been reviewing kids electric scooters. There is quite a variety of these types of vehicles that are on the market today and they can come in different categories for different ages. Today we are going to look at a faster electric scooter from the Xtreme company line up.

This would be a really cool electric scooter for the older kids in their teenage years,Xtreme - XP 700 provided they take safety precautions. The Xtreme XP 700 is a powerful electric scooter that is sometimes placed in the electric pocket bike category by vendors. However, it is probably the closest thing that you will find for kids that is like a real scooter.

This electric scooter is a powerful 700 watt electric motor that is the most powerful on the market. So, I guess you could say that this is a vehicle that is not for young kids, however older teenagers with a need for speed may really enjoy it. One caution of owning this ebike is that you need to insure that you check the local laws in your city and state. Some of these more powerful electric scooters require a license to operate in many states.

The bike also touts a slick racing flaring and other features that makes this scooter a very fast study. It also has front and rear disc brakes which you probably use considerably under the speed and power of this electric vehicle.

The price on this electric bike is very reasonable, because it is in the $200 to $300 price range while delivering a powerful performance. You can check this bike out at Urbanscooters.com

The Best Kids Electric Scooters Part I

santa on an electric scooterEvery now and then I get a real brainstorm of an idea that I think would help people.  After all, if I am going to keep on writing these darn blog posts, I might as well write a couple that will really do somebody something good.  Since Christmas is apparently coming, as I am constantly reminded by TV and every store I go into, then I thought it would be wise to go ahead and do my civic responsibility and remind you that you need to spend your money.

While doing some extensive research, I found out that many of you are already looking for the latest whiz-bang for your kids.  Since this is a blog about electric bikes and electric scooters, what would be a better subject than  a review of kids electric scooters, and then another series on electric bikes. There are already some great new products for the little toddlers, like the Vectrix V-10 which will only run you a mere $8000.  Just kidding!  That’s a toy for big kids with deep pockets.  I already did a blog post on the Vectrix V-10 yesterday.

Anyway, I will start my postings on this subject on the morrow.  In the mean time, ask your kids if a great electric bike or scooter would make their Christmas complete this year.

The Vectrix Electric Scooter a Great Ride but Still a Hard Sell

This picture was taken of avid biker in Arizona as he sits atop of one of the most advanced electric scooter imports to the US, the Vectrix.   Actually this is the latest incarnation of the Vectrix called the VX-1.  Apparently, American motorcycle show roomsare starting to showcase the Vectrix along with their other cycles and scooters.

To me the Vectrix looks like something right out of the popular japanese animae film, Akira.  It has a real sleek futuristic style and delivers on performance. Even though the Vectrix has a 125 volt nickle metal hydride battery pack that can deliver high power to the vehicles advanced electric motor, ( The Vectrix can go from 0 to 50 in just 6.5 seconds and it is just about noiseless.) it only has about a 55 mile range before it needs to power up again.

This last point is what makes many buyers and cycle enthusiasts a bit queasy along with its high end price tag. A new Vectrix can run you between $8,000 and $9,000 dollars which has many scooter and cyclists scratching their heads wondering if the range fits the price.  As for gas savings, we all know that the Vectrix is probably a good way to go and with newer battery technology arriving each day perhaps we’ll see the day when an Easyrider can ride into the sunset without having to worry about a place to it plug in at.

The Diggler Electric Scooter!!!

I have to be honest, I am relatively unfamiliar with this scooter or its company, but it if this scooter can do what it says, then it will be worth whatever price the retailers are asking. A Beautiful Fast Electric Scooter “The Vectrix” Arrives in Newport Ready to Roll!

A Beautiful Fast Electric Scooter

Review : A Beautiful Fast Electric Scooter “The Vectrix” arrives in Newport ready to roll!

The Vectrix , one of the world’s classiest electric motorized scooters, has finally made it to the showroom floors after being in development for the last 10 years. The first Vectrix retail store opened in Newport RI, which is a major milestone for the company. This new electric scooter often referred to as the” Maxi — Scooter” is a beautifully designed two wheeled vehicle, which weighs about 462 lbs. and can accelerate to 50 mph in 6.8 seconds. This beautiful yet fast electric scooter retails for around 11,000 dollars into this powered by electricity so there is no gas tank only rechargeable batteries hidden within its frame. This electric scooter or electric motorcycle made its first appearance in Europe and it already has stores in Rome, Bologna, Melbourne, and Madrid.

The ambitions of the company’s owners are wide and open. They would like to see the Vectrix sold in every one of the 50 states of the Union. Also the company would like to target US dealerships that deal with environmentally friendly vehicles as well as regular gasoline vehicles. With these types of stores, customer will be able to order the Vectrix and have it sent to the dealership where the customer can pick it up.

A beautiful, yet performance driven, electric motorized vehicle

The designers of the Vectrix Maxi Scooter, wanted to appeal to urban commuters that face increasing traffic gridlock and have to pay higher fuel costs to use regular gasoline vehicle’s. While it is true that the V. Isn’t environmentally sound vehicle, there are other issues that must be considered when purchasing an electric vehicle. The electric companies must produce more power to see these vehicles and so, even though the vehicle itself is not a leading any harmful gases the powerplant by default will be many more gases into the atmosphere. As with all electric scooters and bikes there is also the issue of battery usage and what to do with the batteries after their shelf life has expired. The batteries themselves must be disposed of in this can also pose an environmental problem. This has long been an issue with electric motorized vehicles.

Even though the company has lost money in recent years all trying to develop this vehicle it is clear that the future is bright for newer technologies to be developed along these lines. Who knows what the future may hold for the Vectrix and its ancestors to come. In the mean time we can enjoy the thrill of riding on one of the world’s most beautiful, yet fast, electric scooter !

The KillaCycle in Action….Need I say More……?

Americans Not Ready to Make Sacrifices

I guess most Americans are too well off to care if the massive oil companies are taking advantage of them. According to a survey by Consumer Reports, only half of Americans say they want to sacrifice the size of their vehicles or the performance of the vehicle in order to get better fuel economy.

Here are the astonishing figures:

People willing to get a smaller vehicle to get better gas mileage = 52%

People willing to give up performance to get better gas mileage = 49%

People willing to take fewer amenities (power windows, steering etc.) fo better fuel economy = 45%
Now, the use of hydrogen and diesel is more expensive to use on their hybrid cars, but the mileage is far better and only 31% of the people surveyed would pay more to get one of these types of vehicles.

And a whopping 60% said that they were concerned about the environment.  Actually, that figure surprises me coinsidering the number of people I saw throwing garbage all over the place this past memorial day weekend.

I guess there is even brighter news on the horizon, gas prices are expectred to rise again over the course of the summer.  If you match that along with the fact that our government wants to raise our taxes again, the future looks real bright.

I’m being sarcastic of course

Who Killed the Electric Car?

I just wrote a pretty good review of the DVD Who Killed the Electric Car? Today, as I was teaching my history class, my tenth graders and I watched most of the DVD together. I’m amazed at how smart those students were, because very quickly they understood how we, as Americans, are being taken advantage of every single day.

Who Killed the Electric Car?Who Killed the Electric Car? showed exactly how the oil companies and the car manufacturers prevented America from becoming a totally fossil free society. It showed that those in power lust after nothing but greed and they will stop at nothing to maintain their powerbase and have their hands in the pockets of oil companies. This was a sad DVD watch because you could tell that the people in the automotive and oil industry as well as just about every politician in America was involved in taking every single electric car away from us. If you really want see an interesting DVD, one that isn’t there to entertain you, but to make you mad want to do something on a grassroots level, then Who Killed the Electric Car? is a video you will want to take a look at.
