Eddie Sedgemore preparing to break another world record
On May 31st 2009 ,In South Gloucestershire , England, a gentleman is going to attempt to break a world’s record by breaking an existing record for the longest journey on a motorized bicycle. However,he will not be riding just any motorized bicycle, but an electric motorized bike.
Eddie Sedgemore, who is 66 years of age, is no stranger to setting world’s records, because he has previously set one before this. Now, Eddie is being sponsored by the English electric bike manufacturer, PowaByke so he can reset his world’s record a second time. Currently, the existing record for riding a motor assisted bicycle is 1,654 miles and Eddie plans on starting his journey at the Powabyke plant in Bath, England.
The electric bicycle that Eddie Sedgemore will be riding is a Powabyke X-Bike, which is a lightweight e-bike (2.5 kg) that has a range of 10 to 15 miles to the charge. It has a 250 watt motor and has a compact Lithium Lite 36v battery that powers the motor when it is use. The battey is cleverly disguised as a water bottle and the bike itself looks and feels like a regular mountain bike. There are several different incarnations of the X-Bikes. There is the X6 which is a 6 speed model and the X24 model with 24 speeds.
Eddie isn’t just making a new world record, he’s also doing it for a good cause. the former street cleaner is raising money for battling heart disease. He is trying to raise money so that heart defribulators can be purchased for London hospitals.
