Luxury Electric Bike
The Mission One has been claimed to be the worlds fastest production bike. This is a new elite electric motor bike from a Californian company called Mission Motors located in San Fransisco.
According to press releases the bike is capable of 150mph – which is a very fast speed for an electric bike of this nature – and is currently on sale to US customers, with deliveries due in the year 2010.
The electric bikes history reminds many people of Tesla Motors company because the founder of Mission Motors’, Forrest North, is a former Tesla employee. North, in 2007, began work on revising a petrol-powered Ducati motorbike into an electric model and he had planned on combining the performance of petrol with zero exhaust pipe emissions.
The new e- bike is powered by lithium-ion batteries, which are the same kind found in laptops and mobile phones. The amazing thing is that this new electric bike from Mission Motors can allegedly run for 150 miles between recharging, which takes two hours.
Mission motors really seems to breaking the speed barriers of similar electric vehicles such as the Vectrix, which usually have a top speed of 60 mph while maintaining cheaper prices, as well as refined looks. However, this too is an area where Mission Motors seems to excel ahead of the others. The bike has an almost elegant design while maintaining zero emissions. The world designer, Yves Behar, who’s San Fransisco – based design and branding firm, Fuseproject, has designed a multitude of items frokm clothing to Bluetooth headsets designed the electric bike and gave it a design that almost gives the electric bike the feeling of having intrinsic value.
