Urbanmover An Incredible EV Site!
In was just surfing the Net today, looking for some of the latest technologies in Electric Bicycles and Electric Motorized Scooters, when I came across and Interesting Site called Urbanmover ( http://www.urbanmover.com/ ) Their motto is kind of cool, “Zero Emissions – Maximum Fun!” This is a very interesting electric bike and scooter site that markets real, live EV products hat can be used practically every day. For example I perused their electric bike named the Uterrain and found the design of the electric bike to be quite beautiful. (Please see insert.) This particular electric bicycle has a folding aluminum frame, 6 speed gears can achieve speeds of up to 15 miles per hour and if you get the lithium batteries you can ride for up to 30 miles on a single charge! The Urbanmover site not only has awesome products like the Uterrain, but it has video demonstrations of these vehicles as well. I was so impressed with this site that I have decided to to a whole series of
articles on the site just to do it justice. Check out Urbanmover now!
The CityEL Trike, The Sci – Fi Scooter !
Ok, here is a new European Electric Scooter that just recently blew my mind. I’m talking about the CityEL Trike…er Electric Car….I give up. I don’t know exactly how you would classify this vehicle, but it is definitely cool! This is a three wheeled, single seat electric powered vehicle that was developed in Denmark. Believe it or not, this vehicle started production in 1998 and was continually made until 1995.  Weighing in at around 617-pound the CityEL’s dimensions are 107.9 inches long and 41.7 inches wide, making it perfect for European bike paths.   This vehicle has a range of somewhere between 25 and 50 miles and can achieve a speed of about 35 miles per hour. Even though this electric car or should I say electric scooter has only one seat, for a reasonable price you can outfit it with another seat behind the driver. The seat will be facing backwards but it makes for an interesting ride. Not only have the manufacturers made an interesting electric scooter, but they have tried to make it safe with a steel and aluminum safety cell to protect the occupants. As we move further in the 21st century we can only guess at what new electric scooter and electric car oddities we will see.
China Unleashes its New Hydrogen Powered Bicycle !
Shanghai, China has just released its new hydrogen and electric powered bicycle at a trade fair, last week. The new electric and hydrogen bicycle looks just about the same as a normal electric bicycle, with the exception of the hydrogen bottles that hang down under the bike’s seat. The bike is made by the Shanghai Pearl Hydrogen Powere Source Co.
This new type of hydrogen and electric bike can travel up to 62 miles at around 16 miles per hour and it takes around 30 minutes to fill the tank. This bike does not come cheap though, the cost is right around $3000.00, however, when the bike is mass produced, the cost should drop.
Wired Magazine Rates The Tesla Electric Car at #6 !!
Wired magazine has a list of their favorite tree hugging cars and it rates the new Tesla Roadster at #6 on their hit parade. The vehicle itself, looks like a sports car and it apparently drives just like one as well with the exception of sounding like one. This vehicle can go 130 miles per hour and achieves zero to sixty in just 4 seconds. That must be an eerie feeling, driving a silent electric car that can achieve those speeds and has that kind of power.
Not only is this electric vehicle silent, but it emits absolutely zero emissions. As a matter of fact, there isn’t even a tailpipe! But that is not the best news about this incredible vehicle. The best news is that the Tesla Roadster can go about 250 miles on a single charge. As if that were not impressive enough, Tesla is now working on a photovoltaic system that will allow the vehicle to produe its own energy as it cruises around town.
To get a look at this beautiful new electric vehicle, take a look at the video at Tesla’s websiteÂ
